Is. 28.11... the LORD will speak to this people, 12 to whom he has said, “This is rest; give rest to the weary; and this is repose”; yet they would not hear.

God means to give his people, his children, rest. "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." Matthew 11: 28. "There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God." Hebrews 4: 9.  "In repentance and rest you shall be saved." Isaiah 30: 15.

We are to find our rest in him. Not that we sit around and nap all day. But rather that our hearts find their rest in him, our souls find in his presence, in his love,  their repose. "Our heart is restless until it rests in you." Augustine. Then finding our rest in him we work diligently for him in a peaceful, satisfied, patient, trusting, and joyful manner.

When we fail to enter his rest, when we reject his rest, our hearts are restless, hurried, burdened, angry, impatient, and empty. His offer of rest stands - "Come to me." If we hear him, and heed him,  we will find rest for our souls. If not, we live a burdened life. Lord, please let me know and remain in your rest.
