Dr. Tom and Ann Hawkes moved to Fernandina Beach to help plant Christ Presbyterian Church in November of 2021. They have four grown sons and five grandchildren.
Tom, reared in Atlantic Beach, Florida, just south of Fernandina, is an experienced pastor and church planter who served in another presbyterian denomination (PCA) before being called to Florida by the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He also serves as the Director of Church Planting for the Florida Presbytery. A graduate of Gordon College, Gordon-Conwell Seminary, and the Free University of Amsterdam, Tom completed his Ph.D. at the London School of Theology, and has lectured at several seminaries around the world, currently he teaches church planting to doctoral students at Birmingham Theological Seminary. Tom enjoys cycling, sailing, surfing, hiking, and pickelball.
Ann, who grew up on the seacoast of New Hampshire, is a professional educator who does therapy with children with learning needs. She, too, is a graduate of Gordon College were she majored in Bible and Theology. Having lead women's ministry, children's ministry, and the prayer ministry at their last church, Ann primarly enjoys teaching the children of the church. Ann likes to hike, swim, bike, knit, read, and play pickleball.
